The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Elden Ring are the pinnacle of fantasy gaming, though both offer very different experiences.
Different gameplay styles, visuals, lore … the works, and as such they can offer a lot of inspiration to other game developers that fancy creating their own fantasy world whilst still trying to do something different.
While the developers at Digital Extremes haven’t said anything about Bethesda and FromSoftware’s work inspiring its latest game Soulframe, I can’t help but see some of its DNA intertwined within the Warframe successor.
Warframe delved into sci-fi genre and while it wasn’t my cup of tea, it’s still a massively popular multiplayer experience, so hopefully its fantasy sibling can secure itself a similar playerbase.
The game’s description reads: “From the creators of Warframe emerges a new Fantasy Action RPG. Forge your legend with blade, bow, and magick as you lead the charge against a world-devouring corruption.”

When it officially launches, you’ll be able to play it alone or with friends whilst enjoying some flashy visuals and tight and challenging combat, again if Warframe is anything to go off.
Many have been playing the game already, as while it awaits a full release, access can be purchased by supporting the kickstarter deployed to get the project off the ground.
Those who’ve played it weren’t initially impressed at first but over time, more and more content has been added with many comparing to it some of FromSoftware’s soulslikes in design, though slightly more forgiving.
There are a lot of fantasy games out there to eat away at your time and many more on the way like The Elder Scrolls VI, so in the meantime, maybe have a look into Soulframe and see if it’s worth your support.
Elder Scrolls And Elden Ring Players Yearn For More
The Elder Scrolls VI and Elden Ring are a hot topic right now, as Bethesda exec Todd Howard has hinted the next Elder Scrolls game could be shadowdropped much like the remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
That’s a terrifying prospect but one I’d welcome, and they can shadowdrop the Fallout 3 remaster while they’re at it.
In other news, a new Elden Ring game likely isn’t on the way but DLC for Elden Ring: Nightreign is.
The new DLC expansion drops next month and adds some new classes, bosses and a new area to the game, and you can play as a duo rather than a trio now so it’s easier than ever to jump in.
