When I heard that Silent Hill fwould take place in a fictional Japanese town instead of the fictional American one that gave the series its name, I got pretty worried. But my worries about the game not feeling “Silent Hill-y enough” evaporated when I first found myself in the Dark Shrine, which serves as Silent Hill f’s take on the franchise’s cursed Otherworld. Initially armed with nothing but a paper lantern, I took my first steps, and found myself overcome with a strange sense of deja vu. I’d been here before. But when?
