Silent Hill 2 Remake Arrives on Xbox Series X|S With Limited-Time Black Friday Discount

Silent Hill 2 has finally arrived on the Xbox Series X and Series S, giving Xbox players another chance to wander through one of horror’s most famous towns, and launching with a limited-time discount.

Konami announced this morning that the 2024 remake of the 2001 psychological thriller Silent Hill 2 is now available on Microsoft’s current-generation consoles, arriving alongside Black Friday discounts on both Xbox and PC. The Xbox release brings the story of James Sunderland to a wider audience, with the remake reimagining his search for his late wife in the cursed town of Silent Hill with modern visuals and audio while keeping its slow, unsettling pace.

Konami says players on Xbox and Windows PC can purchase Silent Hill 2 for up to 50% off the standard price for a limited time, tying the launch to this year’s holiday sales period, making it a great time to jump into the remake if you have been sitting on the fence or wanting to experience the horror on the Xbox.

For players curious about the broader series, Konami is also using the Xbox launch to spotlight Silent Hill f, the newer instalment set in 1960s Japan. A limited-time bundle pairs Silent Hill 2 with Silent Hill f, with the package available for up to 30% off, depending on platform and store. As of Nov. 21, Silent Hill f is on sale for 30 per cent off on PlayStation and 20% off on Xbox for the first time, with PC storefronts such as Steam, Epic and GOG set to follow on Nov. 25 at 20 per cent off.

Silent Hill Townfall’s Release Date May Have Been Leaked and It’s Not That Far Away

Konami says Silent Hill 2 will join the Black Friday rotation on Nov. 25, when the remake is set to drop to 50% off on consoles, with the discount on Xbox already live. The company says exact discounts and timing can vary by region and retailer, and it directs players to individual digital stores for full details. The push turns late November into a catch-up window for anyone who missed either title at launch but wants to see where the long-running horror series is heading.

Silent Hill 2 exceeded many people’s expectations and scored 86 on Metacritic, with our 9/10 review concluding: “Whether you’re a veteran of the series or a curious newcomer, Silent Hill 2 demands to be experienced. Bloober Team has honoured the legacy of this landmark title while crafting something vital and relevant for 2024.”

Konami is also keeping Silent Hill f in the spotlight with a new update that rolled out earlier this month. Patch 1.10, released Nov. 13, adds a new difficulty option for players who prefer a more relaxed, story-driven run. It also introduces skippable sections in New Game Plus and a slate of bug fixes to smooth out repeat playthroughs. Together with the Xbox debut of Silent Hill 2, the update underlines Konami’s current strategy: keep long-time fans engaged while making it easier for new players to step into the fog, no matter which platform they call home.
