Shift Up (Stellar Blade) has bought the new studio founded by the creator of Resident Evil

Unbound, the studio founded in 2022 by Shinji Mikami, the original creator of Resident Evil, has just been acquired by Shift Up, the developer behind the excellent Stellar Blade. There were already some suspicions about a connection between these two studios, as noted in one of our articles from yesterday. The Korean giant is thus acquiring an industry legend and bringing it under its wing for future projects.

Shift Up CEO Hyung Tae Kim expressed his delight on the matter:

“I am convinced that our collaboration with Unbound, a world-renowned development studio led by Shinji Mikami, is extremely important. This acquisition will allow us to offer an enhanced experience to players worldwide and strengthen Shift Up’s international competitiveness.”

For his part, Shinji Mikami also commented:

“I am delighted to be able to collaborate with Hyung Tae Kim, CEO of Shift Up, and all the company’s employees. I feel a strong synergy with Mr. Kim, himself a prolific creator, and I am convinced that this partnership is ideal for allowing us to focus fully on creativity. We will do everything in our power to create exceptional games, and through this collaboration, our two companies, united, will meet the expectations of our fans.”
