Serious Sam is back and this time he is not alone. In Serious Sam: Shatterverse, Serious Sam is joined by Serious Sam, Serious Sam, Serious Sam, and Serious Sam. Behaviour Interactive has chosen to put a new spin on the franchise as a roguelite co-op shooter where players all play as one of five versions of Sam from different dimensions, brought together by tears in their universes. They may come from different dimensions, but the mission remains unchanged and that is to blast monsters with an arsenal of weapons.
The base of the story for Serious Sam: Shatterverse is that Uber Mental has shattered the Shatterverse, killing Sams in different dimensions. That means the five Sams have to work together to jump between dimensions to try and finish the fights the fallen Sams could not. This is a roguelite so no run is the same with modifiers available to change how things play out. Classic Serious Sam weapons will be available alongside new weapons to deal with the dangers ahead.
Serious Sam: Shatterverse is expected to launch this year with the platforms confirmed as PC, PS5, and Xbox Series XS.
