In spite of the current trends affecting the video game industry, SEGA has decided to give its employees in Japan a pay rise.
In a statement, the publisher confirmed the following for its Japanese teams. Salaries for new employees will also be increased in the country. SEGA’s goal is to “create an environment in which employees can work with peace of mind in the face of recent social changes such as rising prices”. The company also wants to “recruit and develop attractive human resources in order to strengthen global competitiveness”.
As of April 1, 2026, the base salary will increase by an average of approximately 10%. It will rise from Β₯300,000 (β¬1,674) to Β₯330,000 (β¬1,841) per month. This increase is the result of the direct integration of part of the bonus system into the salary and the revision of the remuneration system. The latter will be more flexible depending on the person’s role in the company.
Back in July 2023, SEGA had already implemented a salary increase of around 35%.
