Sandfall Interactive has been awarded the Order of Arts and Letters by France

Following the global success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the members of Sandfall Interactive have been officially honored by France.

The studio’s teams were made Knights of the Order of Arts and Letters by Minister of Culture Rachida Dati. This is a rare honor in the French video game industry.

Sandfall shared photos of the ceremony and a brief statement on LinkedIn.

“his distinction honors us, and our deepest thanks go especially to our team who shaped this world and to the millions of players who have brought it to life. We hope that our journey will inspire all those who wish to take the plunge and create their own work.”

This recognition stands in stark contrast to recent statements by French President Emmanuel Macron, who has said he is open to banning video games deemed too “violent” in France for minors under the age of 15.
