A new update for RoboCop Rogue City on Steam has apparently gone extremely wrong, as a different, and unannounced, game briefly replaced it.
User @_silent on X noticed that the update completely removed the game’s contents, including the “RoboCop.exe” executable needed to run it. Instead, in its place was a build for “Hunter – Win 64 – Shipping.exe.” These files were for a game called Hunter: The Reckoning, and another user was able to boot up the game and play through an opening level that cast you as a police officer investigating a shootout at a bar.
The build was quickly pulled by publisher Nacon roughly 30 minutes later, restoring RoboCop Rogue City in the process. So all of this was seemingly a mistake. It should be noted that this build of The Reckoning didn’t include any copyright information whatsoever and had the default Unreal Engine icon.
You might be familiar with Hunter: The Reckoning as a tabletop RPG set in the World of Darkness universe, where players fight supernatural creatures like vampires and werewolves in modern-day. Notably, this is the same universe that Vampire: The Masquerade exists in.
However, there have been video game adaptations of the series; three hack-and-slash titles developed by High Voltage Software, released in 2002 and 2003. In 2015, Paradox Interactive acquired the World of Darkness series. You can see an old ad for the first game below.

Notably, there aren’t any new games announced in the Hunter: The Reckoning franchise. It’s possible this could be a remake of the first game from 2002, or it could be an entirely new game that’s early on in development. Given the success of the Vampire: The Masquerade series, it’s not a surprise that there could be other games from World of Darkness in the works. But it’s also possible this is just a prototype build of something that never should have seen the light of day.
It’s impossible to say exactly, but hopefully it’s something Nacon details in an official capacity someday.
