The game is launching in 151 countries and regions worldwide. The free-to-play horror strategy game has already surpassed 2 million pre-registrations across multiple regions, reflecting strong global anticipation ahead of launch.
Based on Capcom’s iconic Resident Evil series, Resident Evil Survival Unit offers a fresh strategic experience tailored for mobile devices. The game blends the accessibility of mobile gaming with the depth of real-time strategy, allowing players worldwide to connect and compete in a new survival-themed adventure set in the Resident Evil universe. Players who pre-order or pre-register will receive a special bonus pack containing useful items to support early gameplay and character development.

The horror strategy game involves combat, gathering, technology branches, and survivors with diverse skills. Players are expected to carefully manage resources and use them to rebuild an abandoned mansion, restoring its facilities one by one to lay the groundwork for survival. Supposedly, there are also crucial decisions to make, between cooperating with others or solving the conflict through other means.
The cinematic trailer showed off a battle taking place across what looked like the franchise’s most recognized setting: Raccoon City. It also featured looks at series protagonists such as Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and more. The trailer, backed by the rocking track Mountain Hunt by QUEEN BEE, only made the trailer more energetic.
The inside look was shown at Tokyo Game Show 2025 a month ago, showing off some gameplay. It gave off mechanics similar to other survival strategy games that players can relate to if they have played The Walking Dead mobile games. The base building and exploring aspects looked similar, but a bit cleaner. The standout for Resident Evil Survival Unit looks to be the cinematic quality, and playing on the nostalgia of using franchise-known characters.
