Resident Evil Requiem players spot a secret tease in a trailer ahead of the upcoming reveal this week.
Resident Evil Requiem is without a doubt my most anticipated game of 2026. I know, it’s only the first month of the year, but we’re talking about my beloved survival horror series from Capcom. At any point in the year, no game would have me more hyped.
In Resident Evil Requiem, we are going back to the decayed Raccoon City, roughly 30 years after the events in which the US government dropped a nuke on the city in an attempt to cover the T-Virus outbreak, caused by the sinister pharmaceutical company, Umbrella Corp.
“A new era of survival horror arrives with Resident Evil Requiem, the latest and most immersive entry yet in the iconic Resident Evil series,” reads the description of the game.
“Experience terrifying survival horror with FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, and dive into pulse-pounding action with legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy. Both of their journeys and unique gameplay styles intertwine into a heart-stopping, emotional experience that will chill you to your core.”
The main character is Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the criminally underappreciated (at least it seems that way from Capcom), the co-op multiplayer game, Resident Evil Outbreak.
However, towards the end of last year, we also learned that the returning Leon S. Kennedy will be a second playable character. At least in the mainline series, this will be the first time he’s been back to Raccoon City since the catastrophic events of Resident Evil 2.
Could We Say Goodbye to Leon in Resident Evil Requiem?
Unfortunately, many fear that Resident Evil Requiem could be Leon’s swan song, with some fans speculating that the former RPD rookie could be infected by a deadly virus.
So, if Resident Evil Requiem proves to be Leon’s last hurrah, he may very well pass the torch to grace or in this instance, a powerful revolver that looks to resemble an RSh-12. Which will no doubt have one of two modifications, knowing our Leon.
“Looks like Grace starts with a small gun. And then Leon gives his gun to Grace,” pointed out Redditor I_L_F_M.
The images in question show Leon pointing his gun, and then Grace holding said gun, which gives the impression that it’s been handed over to her. Could this be a parting gift? Only time will tell.
The next (and probably last) Resident Evil showcase takes place tomorrow, on 15 January at 10pm GMT/2pm PT.
Hopefully, Capcom will drop the highly requested Resident Evil Requiem playable demo.
Resident Evil Requiem will be released on 27 February 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
