As Resident Evil Requiem surpasses five million copies sold within its first week, an insider claims thereās more to come from Leon S. Kennedy.
It already seemed obvious that Resident Evil Requiem had sold well, based on Steam player numbers and physical copies selling out, and now Capcom has confirmed itās set a new franchise record.
The ninth mainline entry in the series has surpassed five million copies sold since it launched on February 27, 2026. Itās reached that milestone faster than any other game in the series, with Resident Evil 4 remake having taken four months to surpass five million copies.
Similarly, Resident Evil Village took nearly five months to hit the same figure. If you rewind the clock back further, Resident Evil 6 sold 4.9 million units five months after launch, while Resident Evil 5 hit five million sales within two months.
If renowned Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem is to be believed, Resident Evil Requiem should be getting more content soon. As posted on X, the insider claims DLC for the title is ālate in developmentā.
As for what the DLC could contain, Dusk Golem claims theyāve heard a playable version of Grace Ashcroftās mother Alyssa was being āmade for some DLC thingā. That may not be story content and could relate to a mode similar to The Mercenaries, but strangely no rumour has mentioned that specifically yet.

āMore recently Iāve been hearing a few times in the grapevine now thereās likely a Leon DLC,ā they added, clarifying that they do not āknow the scopeā of what it will involve.
Resident Evil Village received DLC in October 2022, over a year after the original game launched in May 2021. However, Capcom seemed to change their plans for the ongoing story of Resident Evil 7 and Village somewhere along the line, which may have led to a longer than intended development time.
Additionally, Dusk Golem claims Capcom has entered āfull productionā on a remake of the original Resident Evil, which would be the titleās second remake after the 2002 version for the GameCube. However, it is apparently still āyears outā from release.
This would be the third Resident Evil remake Capcom is supposedly making at the moment, with new versions of Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero rumoured to be in production.
The former is expected to launch next year, followed by Zero in 2028. If accurate, this means the remake of the original could be set for 2029 or later ā depending on where the sequel to Resident Evil Requiem fits into this timeline.
That suggests the new remake of the original will be lined up for the next generation of consoles (if the memory shortage doesnāt cause any more havoc), which makes sense to give it a more noticeable upgrade over the 2002 GameCube version, which was later remastered for PlayStation 4 era consoles.
How another remake will pan out though is difficult to gauge. A switch to a third person view might not work for the claustrophobic Spencer Mansion environment, unless they flesh it out to a considerable degree ā but that in turn might push it too far away from its roots.
Capcom has not announced any of these supposed remakes, so itās worth taking all this information with a pinch of salt for now, but the franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary later this month on March 22, so we might hear some news then.
