Red Dead Redemption 3’s setting has fans of the Rockstar Games series divided.
Alongside Rockstar Games’ other goliath series, Grand Theft Auto, each of the two Red Dead Redemption games are considered to be two of the best titles out there. I’d be quite torn if I had to pick between the two but, in my opinion, 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2 just pips it.
“Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde Gang are outlaws on the run. With federal agents and bounty hunters massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal, and fight their way across the rugged heartland in order to survive,” reads the synopsis of Red Dead Redemption 2.
“As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang that raised him.”
Despite being a last-generation game, Red Dead Redemption 2 not only has fun combat and a fulfilling open world with activities and memorable NPCs, but it still probably looks better than most current-gen games, even when being played on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
At this time, Red Dead Redemption 3 hasn’t been announced, but it’s most likely set to arrive after GTA VI, whenever that time might be. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from talking about where the third numbered entry in the series should be set.
“I really do hope that Red Dead Redemption 3 features Canada,” said Reddit user hello_i_like_lays, kicking off the discussion on the thread.
It’s fair to say that Reddit users provided a mixed reaction.
“To have a Canada, it’ll definitely need a season mechanic. We change seasons by moving around the country in RDR2 because the main storyline happens to be timed when the camp moves with temperature changes, but all of Canada experiences a marked difference between summer and winter,” explained RadVarken.
“Personally, I’d rather they do a new area above the RDR1 map. You could still separate that part from the main RDR2 map by impassable mountains to make it make sense,” suggested SnapGrapplePop.
“I’m sure we will find out in 2047 what RDR3 has for us,” joked ventitr3.
“I just hope RDR3 doesn’t make us play as Jack Marston,” exclaimed hoooplaahhh.
As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear news on Red Dead Redemption 3. As for GTA VI, that’s currently scheduled to be released on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
