Red Dead Redemption 2 Free Download Adds Several Surprises to Your Next Playthrough

Red Dead Redemption 2 has plenty of content already but with the power of PCs, you can extend your playthrough even further.

Rockstar Games can throw together a compelling story, no doubt about it. Whether it be GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2 or the upcoming GTA VI, you know you’re in for a tale that’ll be timeless, and give you a decent amount of playtime on its own.

For reference, HowLongToBeat reckons GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 take around 32 and 50 hours respectively to just play through the story mode.

Of course, you’re not just playing Rockstar’s games for the story are you? Red Dead Redemption 2, for example, is filled with side content from side missions to filling out Arthur’s journal, and plenty of random encounters in between.

For those who’ve seen all of these encounters, you can add a few more to your game with the RDR2 Random World Encounters mod found on NexusMods right now.

Simply put, it “adds spontaneous chaotic ambient events to the game world” that don’t carry the same story as ones Rockstar made itself but give you something else to do while you’re wandering around in the open-world.

The encounters you can find will include NPCs fighting each other, horses in need of calming, animals attacking travellers and even some muggings if you want to channel your inner vigilante.

As the name implies, these could happen anywhere at any time and add just a little more depth to the world.

It takes players just short of 200 hours to do a completionist run of Red Dead Redemption 2 and mods like this do a good job of extending your playthrough even further if you want to.

Rockstar Games’ next title is GTA VI and we’re expecting big things from the upcoming Grand Theft Auto sequel.

While the new map is said to be bigger than Red Dead Redemption 2’s, the real selling point is how much denser it’ll be, with cities and towns to explore in-between story missions.

With such a playground at our disposal, we’re hoping Rockstar Games is populating it with plenty to do, ranging from side missions, to random encounters, and of course some recreational activities like sports or fishing.

I’m sure it’ll be great. After all, the next Grand Theft Auto game has been developed for new-gen hardware only, so that extra power must be doing wonders for the new open-world.
