If you’re looking for a new excuse to play Red Dead Redemption 2, I’d say there are a couple out there at the minute.
There is, of course, the new spider mystery. Yes, it turns out that Red Dead Redemption 2 has been hiding a trail that fans have only just spotted, seven years on from the game’s release.
It arose after one player spotted a spider symbol and web on a telegraph pole that only showed up at a certain time of day.
Similar poles and webs have since been unearthed, creating a larger web, of sorts, across the game’s map. The point of the trail is yet to be discovered, so you could dive into the game and be the one to take all of the glory.
If that doesn’t pique your interest, perhaps the new ‘Taunts’ mod will.
Engage With NPCs In a New Way
Developed by NexusMods user Rassermand, ‘Taunts’ is a fun way of adding a new mechanic to your game on PC as it essentially allows both Arthur and John to taunt enemies and NPCs.
“Manually taunt injured, dying, fleeing, or dead peds with context-aware voice lines,” the mod’s description reads.
“Features combat taunts during gunfights and brawls that can provoke enemies into aggressive charges.”
In total, the mod utilises over 2,000 hand-picked voice lines.

This isn’t an overhaul of Red Dead Redemption 2’s gameplay by any means, but the mod does add a fun new quirk.
“Bring Arthur and John’s personality to life with over 2,000 hand-curated and specifically chosen voice lines that react to the world around you,” creator Rassermand continues.
“Ever felt like the player was too quiet after a gunfight? Wished he’d have something to say to that dying O’Driscoll?
“This mod restores and repurposes generic, unused, cut, and underutilised voice lines from Arthur and John’s VERY extensive audio library, creating a dynamic taunt system that makes every encounter feel more alive.”
This is one of my favourite types of mod; I’m all for a little immersion boost. And yes, even a game as immersive as Red Dead Redemption 2 can be improved.
Already it seems to be going down well with players.
“Awesome mod,” one person wrote, with another adding, “It adds realism and colour to the interactions.”
Perhaps it’s one to try if you’re into modding. You can grab ‘Taunts’ for free via NexusMods with installation instructions readily available on the mod’s listing.
