Since its release in November 2024, the PS5 Pro hasn’t always been a hit. PSSR (or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) hasn’t performed impressively on games optimized for the console, featuring image artifacts and other display issues on certain titles.
Now, Sony has announced that a new version of PSSR will be rolled out in the coming weeks on PS5 Pro. Remember that this technology is “an AI library that analyzes game images pixel by pixel as they are scaled”.
Resident Evil Requiem is the first game to benefit from PSSR 2.0. It maintains high frame rates and image quality thanks to optimization work carried out over the last six months.
Several games already optimized with PSSR will benefit from the new version when a system update is rolled out for the PS5 Pro in March.
Finally, below, the image on the left shows Resident Evil Requiem with the new PSSR and the image on the right shows the old version.
