For well over a week, PSN has been facing intermittent issues that cause the network to either go down momentarily or display random maintenance messages. We’ve been observing the problem and have been hit with said maintenance messages ourselves, but there’s been no word from Sony and no notice on the official PSN status website.
PS5, PS4 players hit with random PSN issues and there’s silence from Sony
The issue started sometime in the second week of October 2025, with users across sites like Reddit, ResetEra, and Twitter sharing screenshots of maintenance message pop-ups interrupting their gameplay. We’ve noticed that many of the players complaining about these interruptions had been playing Ghost of Yotei when the issue occurred.
That said, we don’t think this has anything to do with the game. A day ago, PSN briefly went down for everyone, and yesterday, PlayStation LifeStyle’s own staff members were greeted with the following message upon booting up the PS5: “Services are busy right now. We’ll be back soon.”
I don’t recall seeing anything like this before when logging into my console.
The good news is that this “outage” — if we can even call it that — lasts only a few minutes, which is probably why we haven’t seen anyone reporting it thus far. But what does strike us as odd is that these issues are occurring quite frequently (sometimes several times a day) at random times and have been for more than a week.
It is a bit annoying, though, when these maintenance messages appear in the middle of gameplay. Here’s hoping the issues are fixed before they get worse.
