Following Sony‘s official comment regarding the PS6 release date window, a reliable insider has claimed that the console is coming sooner than we think. PlayStation architect Mark Cerny recently said that the PS6 is “a few years away,” but we’re told that we’ll see the next-gen console in 2027.
Is PS6 release date window of 2027 a possibility?
The leaker in question is none other than Kepler L2, who seems to be well-connected enough to have gotten their hardware leaks right thus far. According to them, Sony has plans for a 2027 launch for the PS6 “unless any unexpected delays happen.”
Worth mentioning that Kepler L2 seems to have sources at AMD as many of their leaks revolve around AMD’s manufacturing and supply chain. We do ask our readers to take all rumors with a grain of salt, but 2027 doesn’t sound outside the realm of possibility.
Many took Cerny’s statement of “a few years” as him suggesting a release window of 2028. But if we’re following the same trajectory as the last two generations, fall 2027 sounds about right. And frankly, we don’t expect Cerny to give an accurate release window at this stage, anyway.
Backing up Kepler L2’s claims is another known insider, who goes as Moore’s Law Is Dead (MLID) on YouTube. MLID, who somehow keeps getting a hold of internal AMD documents, believes that the next Xbox is also launching in 2027.
Kepler L2 previously claimed that the next Xbox will be slightly more powerful than the PS6. MLID backs that up, too, but added that Microsoft will now compete more with PC rather than the PS6, and the next-gen Xbox is expected to cost more than Sony’s console due to its specs.
