PS5 Update Quietly Adds Welcome PS Store Feature for Some

PS5 system feature update

In a recent PS5 system feature update, Sony added a handy new PS Store feature that currently only appears on the console. Players browsing the store will now be able to see a game’s launch price, which is useful when a title receives a permanent price cut.

PS5 feature update adds launch prices to console store, but not for everyone

Last October, Sony added price history for games on the PS Store. Those picking up a game are now able to see if the price they’re paying is the lowest price offered over the last 30 days. Now, the company’s rolling out a feature that displays a game’s launch price on its release date and mentions roughly how long it was sold for that price initially.

The following screenshot shared by a Reddit user demonstrates how it works:

We’re not sure when exactly this was added to the PS Store, but it’s recent, and we can confirm that it doesn’t appear for everyone yet. I’ve checked the web store and PS App and haven’t been able to locate the feature on either, suggesting that Sony is staggering its rollout.

It’s nice to see the company take more steps towards transparency. What do our readers think?
