Several insiders have claimed Sony’s first State Of Play of 2026 will take place this week, but some titles have already been ruled out.
While we’ve had three Nintendo Direct presentations and an Xbox showcase within the first few weeks of 2026, Sony has done very little so far, to tease the year ahead.
Based on several reliable insiders, that looks set to change this week. According to both Jeff Grubb and NateTheHate, who accurately predicted the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase last week, a State Of Play is scheduled for Thursday, February 12.
Sony has held a State Of Play in February every year since 2021 – both general presentations and ones centred around a specific title like Gran Turismo 7 or Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. On Reddit, NateTheHate claimed he knew ‘none of the contents’, but the assumption is that it will be general State Of Play event.
We’ve already heard rumbles of what titles won’t be shown. Despite claiming Ubisoft’s perpetually rumoured remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is ‘not too far off’ from being announced, insider Shinobi602 on ResetEra has said it won’t appear at the State Of Play.
Similarly, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has dashed hopes of a sequel to Horizon Forbidden West coming to fruition anytime soon. In a post on Bluesky, he claimed ‘most’ of the team at Guerrilla is working on the recently announced co-op spin-off Horizon Hunters Gathering.

So, if this presentation is happening, what could be shown? Considering the mascot’s strong ties to PlayStation, the HD remake of the original Rayman, a project whose existence was recently confirmed by creator Michel Ancel, could pop up. Meanwhile, Housemarque’s Returnal successor, Saros, is almost certain to appear ahead of its launch on April 30.
It’s likely we’ll get details on the planned beta for Bungie’s Marathon, ahead of its full launch on March 5. There’s also a chance of some surprises too, like the long rumoured God Of War 2.5D Metroidvania spin-off or maybe something from one of Sony’s new studios.
The only other Sony first party title confirmed for this year is Marvel’s Wolverine, but considering that’s set to launch in the second half of 2026, that will likely be left for another showcase later this year.
For now, if a State Of Play is slated for Thursday, it will likely be announced either tomorrow or Wednesday, February 11.
