Last year, it was claimed a God Of War Metroidvania set during the Greek era was in the works (Sony)

Itโ€™s not only claimed a new State of Play is airing next month, but a long-rumoured God Of War spin-off should launch this year too.

With Xbox already getting its first showcase of 2026 out of the way, where it announced release dates and gameplay details for Forza Horizon 6 and Fable, everyone is left waiting for Sony and Nintendo to drop some big new reveals.

The Nintendo Direct from this past weekend only had a new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie to show and while another showcase is already scheduled for this week, itโ€™s focusing entirely on the already announced Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream.

It is rumoured a third Nintendo Direct is happening in just a weekโ€™s time and now itโ€™s said that Sony will follow that up with one of its own State of Play showcases.

Yesterday, insider NateTheHate, who has a good track record when it comes to Nintendo related leaks (such as the reveal date for the Nintendo Switch 2), claimed that a Nintendo Direct is happening on Thursday, February 5.

On X, he was also asked if a State of Play is coming in February too, to which he bluntly answered, โ€˜There will be, yes.โ€™

This claim has since been backed up by Giant Bombโ€™s Jeff Grubb during his Game Mess Mornings podcast (from the 17:55 mark). Initially, he said it will air on Thursday, February 12 (just one week after the alleged Nintendo Direct) before backtracking and clarifying itโ€™s aiming for that week.
