A PS5 and PS4 remaster of a Sega cult classic game is out later this month, developer Screaming Villains has announced. Prize Fighter: Heavyweight Edition brings the 90s FMV classic to modern platforms for the first time, rebuilt from the ground up with 4K support.
Prize Fighter: Heavyweight Edition PS5, PS4 remaster out in February 2026
The remaster will release on February 20. Prize Fighter was originally released in 1993 and was developed by Digital Pictures, which shut down in 1996. Players step into the shoes of an up-and-coming boxer trying to prove his worth in the ring.
βPrize Fighter is brooding, brutal, real!β Screaming Villains wrote. βIn fact, the bouts are staged by Ron Stein, the boxing guru who choreographed the fight scenes in Raging Bull and the Rocky films. Close-ups, point of view shots, and handheld camera bring the intensity of the boxing scene right in your face!β
A price for the game has not been announced, but its PS Store page is live for players to wishlist.
Screaming Villains says Prize Fighter will come with realistic graphics. Players will get a rocky vision if they take a punch, for example. βYou might even find yourself flat on your back, looking up into the faces of the referee and your trainer as you take the count,β the developer added.
