A popular PS1 RPG is getting a surprise PS5 and PS4 remake soon, and a free demo is available to play right now. 1999’s Front Mission 3 will be the third modern remake following the 2022 and 2023 remakes of the first two games.
Front Mission 3: Remake PS5, PS4 game demo is free for all, no PS Plus required
Front Mission 3: Remake will release on PS5, PS4, Xbox, and PC on January 30, 2026 for $34.99. The free demo is available on both PS5 and PS4, and although it doesn’t require PS Plus to play, Premium members can cloud stream it.
“Step into the role of Kazuki and Ryogo as tensions rise across volatile military zones,” reads an official overview. “With the fate of the region hanging in the balance, command towering Wanzers and lead your squad through intense, turn-based battles.”

For the uninitiated, Front Mission is a tactical RPG series that was originally developed and published by Square before it merged with Enix to become Square Enix. The remake is being developed by MegaPixel Studio and published by Forever Entertainment.
The game offers two storylines. Depending on players’ choice, protagonist Kazuki will either link up with his sister Alisa or join an operative named Emma Klamsky.
