A highly anticipated upcoming PS5 first-party game has announced free launch content for PlayStation players. Bungie’s Marathon will be a multiplatform release, but the free add-ons will be PS5 exclusive.
Promising Bungie game Marathon offering free weapon charms to all PS5 players
All PS5 players will get three free weapon charms at launch, each of which is inspired by a Sony franchise.
The Freedom Weapon Charm is based on Helldivers 2, the Battle Guitar Weapon Charm is based on Death Stranding 2, and the Onryo Weapon Charm is based on Ghost of Yotei.
For some reason, Bungie keeps insisting that these add-ons are free for PS Plus users only. While technically correct, Marathon cannot be played without a PS Plus membership, so it’s a moot point.
These specific weapon charms will remain exclusive to PS5, it seems. When some players mentioned that they’ll be playing Marathon on Xbox, Bungie responded, “We’ll have weapons charms for Steam and Xbox players as well, which we’ll share more about in the future.”
Those who preorder any edition of Marathon will separately receive the following:
- ZERO STEP 004 [CE Tactical Sidearm Style]
- ZERO STEP RC [Weapon Charm]
- ZERO STEP SHIFT [Weapon Sticker]
- APOGEE INTERCEPT [Background]
- APOGEE INTERCEPT [Emblem]
Marathon will release on March 5. Despite a turbulent reveal, the game looks pretty promising.
