Insomniac’s leaked 10 year plan looks set to become a reality, based on new comments from Marvel Games on PS5 exclusivity.
Aside from 2021’s Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, over the last decade developer Insomniac has become increasingly synonymous with Marvel projects.
After the studio’s success with three PlayStation exclusive Spider-Man games, it will next launch Marvel’s Wolverine towards the end of next year. While there’s been no confirmation on what the Sony-owned studio will work on after that, prior leaks have suggested more Marvel titles, including a Venom spin-off, Spider-Man 3, and an X-Men game.
While these plans might have changed since, it seems like the overall idea, of continuing to focus on Marvel titles for the foreseeable future, is still going ahead. That’s according to new comments from Marvel Games general manager Haluk Mentes, who has said Marvel and Insomniac will continue to collaborate ‘for many years to come’.
Speaking in an interview with Game Informer, Mentes was asked about the philosophy steering the ship at Marvel Games, where he explained how they have operated with a ‘no regrets’ approach when committing to projects.
‘There’s a great sense of responsibility at play here: Marvel is an almost 90-year-old creative brand, yet it’s as fresh as ever because during all that time, each new generation grew up with Marvel, ultimately became creators and left their mark, and then passed the torch to the next generation,’ Mentes said.
‘We happen to be here now, carrying this torch, and we feel we have a debt of gratitude to deliver for the players and future creators, whose first encounter with Marvel might well be one of our games.’

Speaking about collaborating with studios, Mentes uses Insomniac as the ‘epitome’ of how it wants to work with developers in the future.
‘We also actively seek collaborators that want to take on the same mantle,’ he added. ‘As is usually the case, once we complete a project together, they, too, became ‘Marvel’. Marvel’s Wolverine with our dear friends at Insomniac Games is perhaps the epitome of this philosophy.
‘We have been working together for more than a decade and developed such a shorthand across multiple Marvel’s Spider-Man games that when the time finally came to bring Logan back in spectacular and visceral fashion, it was obvious to everyone on our team that Insomniac was the perfect choice.
‘It was our shared culture and values that brought us together, and we’re so proud to continue collaborating for many years to come.’
The last sentence certainly indicates Marvel and Insomniac will be intertwined for the foreseeable future, which isn’t exactly surprising considering how successful the Spider-Man titles have been for all involved.
This also means a significant portion of Marvel Games’ output will be exclusive to PlayStation consoles. Sony is also working with Marvel on upcoming fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, slated for 2026 across PlayStation 5 and PC.
Beyond these titles, there are plenty of other Marvel titles in the oven, with Marvel Cosmic Invasion and Deadpool VR set to launch later this year. EA Motive is also working on a multiformat Iron Man game, while Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra is set to launch next year.
