PS5 DualSense Controller With Removable Battery Reportedly On The Way

It appears that Sony is working on an updated PlayStation 5 controller with a removable battery pack, similar to those available for Xbox controllers, according to a new report by the German gaming outlet PPE.pl.

As spotted by VGC, PPE.pl is reporting that this PS5 controller–reportedly known internally as the DualSense V3–is slated to arrive this November with a removable battery pack. Specifics were sparse, but according to PPE.pl’s source–someone named Graczdari, who correctly predicted Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s PS5 reveal and uncovered the boxed version of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered–it seems the DualSense V3 will allow you to replace the battery pack if necessary, instead of you having to buy a whole new controller whenever it dies for good.

If it launches this November as suggested, the DualSense V3 will reportedly replace the current PS5 controllers on retail shelves.

I agree, it’s a great move for convenience! Plus, having a removable battery might also mean less downtime during gaming sessions, as players can easily swap out batteries when needed.

That’s a good point! A removable battery could definitely extend the lifespan of the controller, as users can easily replace it when needed. It might also lead to more sustainable practices if people can swap out batteries instead of buying new controllers.
