Today’s Nintendo Direct was full of surprises, some of which didn’t pertain to just Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The presentation featured several announcements tied to the PS5. Arguably the most exciting announcement was the reveal of Square Enix’s Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is a remake of the 2000 PS1 RPG, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. A brand new trailer, which can be seen below, was unveiled during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, giving players a glimpse of its new look, with designs originally created by the late Akira Toriyama.
When is the Dragon Quest VII Reimagined PS5 release date?
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will launch for PS5 on February 5, 2026. Players can preorder the game now on the PS Store. The Standard Edition, which costs $59.99, includes the base game and a Blue Slime Shield that can be redeemed in-game. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $74.99 and includes a bunch of other goodies, as well as everything from the Standard Edition. Here is everything included in the Digital Deluxe Edition:
