Sony is finally rolling out a new PS Store price feature that players have been using third-party websites for. On PS5’s store, players spotted the addition of price history for games on sale — something we’re surprised it took Sony this long to implement.
PS Store finally displays sale price history, but there’s room for further improvement
As spotted by Reddit user GIThrow, when browsing the PS Store, players can now see a game’s lowest price over the last 30 days. The feature is currently only available on the console stores. I can confirm that at the time of this writing, neither the web store nor the PS App has been updated, but they should be in due course.
While this is a welcome addition to the PS Store, there’s certainly room for improvement. Third-party price tracking websites (I’ve personally been using PSprices.com) show history well beyond 30 days alongside helpful charts and PS Plus exclusive discount history.
While I don’t expect Sony to add charts and graphs to the PS Store, a 30-day price history isn’t enough considering games don’t typically go on sale more than once a month. As a result, players may be misled into thinking that a game is at its lowest price in a while, even though it’s not.
Still, this is a step in the right direction. What do our readers think?
