PS Plus Users Warned Not to Renew Their Membership Right Now

Don't renew PS Plus ahead of Black Friday discount

PS Plus members are reminded not to renew their membership and turn off auto-renewal to be on the safe side ahead of November 2025. As has been the case in previous years, current/existing members often get locked out of the biggest annual PS Plus discount during Black Friday.

Renewing PS Plus ahead of November may lock members out of Black Friday 2025 discount

For some reason, Sony now only seems to offer PS Plus discounts to new or returning members whose memberships have expired. The only time we’ve seen current members offered a discount is when the company wants them to upgrade to a higher tier from Essential or Extra.

We continue to highlight this issue from time to time. We most recently wrote about it back in May, when a large number of members were locked out of the Days of Play 2025 deals.

Unfortunately, some of those who were compensated for February’s PSN outage with free five days of PS Plus are already out of luck. If you’re only just reading this article and renewed your membership within the last 14 days, you can try this trick to avoid being locked out of the Black Friday deal.

PlayStation Black Friday 2025 deals are expected to go live on or after November 21 — a week ahead of Black Friday.
