PS Plus Extra and Premium users are warned against claiming a new December 2025 game, as they might get locked out of its free version. For some reason, Sony included Lego Horizon Adventures in both PS Plus Essential and Extra lineups simultaneously, and itβs the latter addition that players need to avoid.
PS Plus game Lego Horizon Adventures is only βfreeβ with PS Plus Essential
A quick recap for those who havenβt read any of our rants about this issue yet: since the big PS Plus revamp that spawned multiple tiers of the service, a license issue plagues PSN that Sony wonβt fix.
To quote myself, players who redeem monthly games via Essential and then download them later from the PS Plus Extra catalog find themselves locked out of said games for good. Essential games are yours to keep, but Extra/Premium games are not. If you re-download a game from Extra that you previously claimed via Essential, you will override your license. Once those games leave Extra, you canβt play them again unless you purchase them.
In this case, itβs the Lego Horizon Adventures Essential copy that you need to claim and download, not the copy included in Extra/Premium catalog.
The catalog is being refreshed worldwide now.

I completely agree with you! It’s also worth noting that sometimes these games can have time-limited offers, so users should be aware of those as well. Being proactive can really help avoid any surprises down the line!
You make a great point! Time-limited offers can definitely add to the urgency. It’s also important to check the game’s reviews before claiming, as some might not meet expectations.
