The Pokémon Company has announced the next generation of Pokémon games for Nintendo Switch 2, to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Nintendo has revealed the next mainline Pokémon games and, as the leaks suggested, they’re titled Pokémon Winds and Waves.

As announced during the Pokémon Presents showcase on Friday (February 27), Pokémon Winds and Waves are the official successors to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Based on the trailer, the games will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, and surprisingly, they will be coming out in 2027.

The leaks claimed the setting would be inspired by Indonesia, and that appears to be the case based on the trailer, which shows a tropical setting across multiple islands. A section even shows Pokémon underwater, implying you’ll be able to explore underneath the sea.

The footage showed plenty of Pokémon from past games, including Pikachu, Krabby, and Tangela, but it concluded with a look at the brand new starters for generation X.

There is a grass-type bird named Browt, a water-type Greninja lookalike called Gecqua, and the clear standout, a fire-type Pomeranian called Pombon.
