Mega Evolution is receiving a resurgence in 2025, and alongside other titles, Pokémon TCG Pocket is bringing it back with the Mega Rising expansion during its first anniversary celebration, as well as good quality updates.
The Mega Evolution debut in Pokémon TCG Pocket is right around the corner. After the Mega Evolution resurgence that started with Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the mobile title has followed suit and announced that Mega Evolution would be coming to the digital tabletops of TCG Pocket today. Fans now know exactly when the Mega Rising expansion will launch, and The Pokémon Company has revealed a trailer for the expansion. That trailer can be seen below.
Like the very first Genetic Apex (A1) series, the new Mega Rising expansion features three face booster packs: Mega Gyarados, Mega Blaziken, and Mega Altaria, and each will include powerful Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards to take to the tabletop. Fans should note that if they plan to bring a Mega Pokémon ex card into battle, they face a potential instant loss, as knocking out a Mega Evolution card rewards a player with three points, granting an instant win in TCG Pocket. The Mega Rising expansion launches on October 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. EST.
On top of the Mega Rising expansion, Pokémon TCG Pocket is also celebrating its first anniversary and the milestone of hitting over 150 million downloads since its global launch. For the occasion, TCG Pocket has released a suite of new updates coming to the mobile title, including a revamp to unpopular trading requirements in-game.

- You Can Give Friends Cards! – A new feature is releasing on Oct. 30, 2025, and it lets friends share cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The feature will allow players to give – rarity cards to friends, and players will be able to share up to one card per friend per day. This includes cards from the latest expansion.
- Trading, Revamped – Players will soon be able to trade cards from the latest expansions (without limitations) as well as booster packs. In addition to being allowed to trade –
and ★ rarity cards, TCG Pocket will add the ability to trade ★★ and Shiny 1–Shiny 2 rarity cards. - Wonder Pick Improved – After the update lands, unobtained cards from the latest expansion will appear more often in the Wonder Pick selection screen. In addition, the number of individual cards players own will be displayed on each card in Wonder Pick, so if players only need two of a specific card, it will be easier to discern.
While the new Mega Rising expansion and share feature will launch on October 29 and 30, the other features announced alongside the anniversary will be implemented “soon.” More information can be found on the official Pokémon website.
