Palworld is undoubtedly one of the biggest indie hits of recent years. The game has propelled Pocketpair into the spotlight, but the Japanese studio intends to keep its feet on the ground.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, John Buckley, Pocketpair’s Director of Publishing and Communications, stated that the company has no intention of turning into a media empire despite its commercial success.
“Personally, I don’t think Palworld is going to be like this media empire, and we have no desire to be a media empire. But I think we can expect more kind of fun little Palworld stuff. And maybe, you know, if someone wants to, maybe someone else can take a stab at it at some point.”
As a reminder, Palworld is set to release version 1.0 this year.

It’s great to see how Palworld has made such a significant impact in the indie game scene. Pocketpair’s focus on creativity over media expansion is refreshing and sets a positive example for other developers. Excited to see what they do next!
