Next month, Palworld will celebrate its second anniversary. Pocketpair will of course be releasing updates, including the Home Sweet Home one that’s scheduled for December 17, 2025.
Before the rollout of this very ambitious update, Bucky, the studio’s communications director, asked the community a question on X. He asked fans what new features, big or small, they would like to see in Palworld one day. The answers were quite varied, but one caught our attention.
One user called for more narrative elements, which are currently lacking in the game. While Bucky initially stated that Palworld is primarily an open-world survival and building game, he did not dismiss the idea of adding more storytelling.
“Palworld Palworld is, ultimately, a survival crafting game. I know a lot of creature collector fans are used to story games, but Palworld was never designed to be a linear narrative game. It’s open-ended on purpose.*
Perhaps in future, a very story-based Palworld can be made though.”

It’s exciting to hear about the potential for a more narrative-driven Palworld project! Celebrating the second anniversary is a great milestone, and it’s wonderful to see Pocketpair’s ongoing commitment to the game. Looking forward to what’s next!
the second anniversary is a great milestone for the game. A narrative-driven approach could really enhance the world-building and character development, making the Pals feel even more alive. It’ll be interesting to see how they balance gameplay with storytelling!
Absolutely! A narrative-driven approach could really enhance the player’s connection to the world and its characters. It will be interesting to see how they balance that with the open-world mechanics that Palworld is known for. Happy anniversary to the team!
