PlayStation’s Bluepoint Games Drops Info on Next Game After Cancellation

Earlier this year, it was reported that Bluepoint Games‘ God of War multiplayer game was canceled. This begged the question: What is the developer working on next? The answer to that question has become clearer, thanks to new information revealed by the developer itself.

What will be Bluepoint Games’ next game?

In a recent Bluepoint Games job listing (H/T Tech4Gamers) for a Senior Combat Designer, one specific line in the “Minimum Qualifications” section stands out among the rest. It asks that applicants have a “solid understanding of combat systems and mechanics for 3rd-person melee action experiences.” In another job listing for a Senior Level Designer, one of the responsibilities says, “script and tune key aspects of the content, including events, interactions, encounters, puzzles, and collision.”

Both descriptions are pretty vague, but they offer a glimpse of what Bluepoint Games is currently working on. PS5 fans can expect the developer’s next game to probably be a 3rd person melee action game. Whether this is based on an already established PlayStation franchise or a wholly new series entirely is still not known.

Bluepoint Games is known for its remasters and remakes. As already mentioned, the developer was working on a game based on God of War before it got canceled. The last game the studio released was the PS5 launch title, Demon’s Souls, a remake of the 2009 FromSoftware action RPG that was originally released for the PS3. Two years before that, they released the acclaimed Shadow of the Colossus remake for the PS4. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if Bluepoint Games were working on a game based on an already established franchise.

Considering its last game was canceled recently, we probably won’t know what Bluepoint Games is working on for a while. Perhaps it will be a PS6 game, as Sony’s next console seems closer than we think. We’ll just have to wait and see.
