PlayStation Store leaks that Leon Kennedy will be in Resident Evil Requiem

Rumours that Leon Kennedy would feature in the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem have been circling the internet for a while and it looks like the PlayStation Store has confirmed this via pre-order icon.   @AestheticGamer1 on  Twitter spotted the image and states “If you have the standard non-Deluxe Edition of RE9 on PS5, you can see this cover if try to schedule pre-loading.”

Resident Evil Requiem stars Grace Ashcroft and  the story drags her back to Raccoon City, 30 years on from its destruction in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. She follows the trail of strange deaths at the Renwood Hotel as an FBI technical analyst, and that location is also where her mother was murdered eight years previously.

Director Koshi Nakanishi has previously spoken about on how the game is built around the concept of addictive fear.  He also discussed how that ties in with the new protagonist, FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, who is shy and introverted, needing to overcome her fears and leaning on her training to be able to use a gun and fast deduction skills.

Leon had been considered to be the lead character for this new game but was rejected.

“We always thought about making Leon the protagonist,” Nakanishi-san said. “But making a horror game based around him is difficult. He wouldn’t jump at something like a bucket falling. No one wants to see Leon scared by every little thing, so he’s actually quite a bad match for horror.”

Given that statement it may be that Leon is a non-playable character and may pop up to help, or even hinder, Grace.

It was recently revealed that a trio of Resident Evil games are heading to Nintendo Switch with Resident Evil 7, aka Resident Evil Biohazard, and Resident Evil 8, aka Resident Evil Village, all launching on the same day as the Resident Evil Requiem.
