PlayStation State of Play Announced for November, But There’s a Catch

PlayStation State of Play livestream

Just when we thought Sony was done with its PlayStation State of Plays this year, they announced a new one that will air tomorrow, on November 11 at 2 p.m. PT/ 5 p.m. ET. However, PS5 and PS4 players may want to temper their expectations for the latest presentation.

PlayStation State of Play focuses on Asian game creators

According to the PlayStation Blog post regarding the upcoming State of Play, the “special episode” will have a runtime of over 40 minutes and focus on games created in Japan and across Asia that include games that range from “beloved series to distinctive indie creations”. They also state that they will have “a few other exciting updates” alongside these announcements.

The PlayStation State of Play will be hosted by voice actor Yuki Kaji, who some may recognize as the voice of Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia.

When the PlayStation State of Play goes live, it can be streamed on YouTube. The Japanese PlayStation YouTube channel will feature a full Japanese-language version. The regular PlayStation YouTube channel will feature the Japanese audio with English subtitles.

So, what exactly can we expect from this PlayStation State of Play? Well, it does seem that upcoming PlayStation first-party games like Wolverine, Saros, and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will not make an appearance, considering they are not based in Asia. Beyond that, it seems up in the air.

It’s possible games like Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls and Resident Evil Requiem could fit the “beloved series” criteria. Another possible game that could be shown that has made appearances at other PlayStation State of Plays is the highly anticipated action RPG, Phantom Blade Zero. Of course, this is all speculation, so take it with a grain of salt. We’ll know more when the presentation streams on November 11.
