In Brief
Pixiland confirms indefinite suspension of Web3 features, shifting entirely to a Web2 platform.
All planned token operations and cryptocurrency transactions are canceled, with existing crypto converted to in-game currency.
Despite changes, Pixiland will stay operational as a Web2 game with reduced support.
Major Shift in Game Operations
Pixiland, the interactive online game, has reversed its course from a Web3 to a Web2 model, discontinuing all blockchain-related features indefinitely. This pivot comes after two years of development from a small, self-funded team facing persistent market instability and regulatory challenges.

Dear Pixilanders,
Pixiland has been built and operated for nearly 2 years. Throughout this journey, weโve done everything we could to ship features, improve the game, and keep Pixiland alive as a small independent teamโฆ pic.twitter.com/rlmR10hQis
Suspension of Web3 Functions
The transition announcement outlined significant changes: the cancellation of any future token events and the disabling of cryptocurrency-based transactions. Pixiland’s cryptocurrency, wPixi, will be auto-converted into GEM, the gameโs native non-cashable currency, following a 10:1 ratio. This Web2 model will maintain the game sans blockchain elements, with no capability for currency withdrawal or token exchanges.
NFT and Player Asset Management
Pixiland assures players that their NFTs remain their property and can be withdrawn to personal wallets since the platform doesn’t hold custody of user NFTs. A manual claim process will enable players to secure a non-blockchain copy of their NFTs within the game. After this claim period, the game will halt all onchain NFT activities.
Detailed Transition Timeline
Immediately following the announcement, all Web3 development ceased, the in-game shop was shut down, and cryptocurrency mechanisms were disabled. Operational changes, such as the deactivation of neighborhood features and the substitution of GEM for previous land services, will take place swiftly. By February, the game is expected to function fully on the Web2 model and by March, all NFT and token tools will be discontinued.
Future of Pixiland in Web2
Post-transition, Pixiland will continue to operate online but with minimal support focused on server functionality and critical issues, as the operational capacity has been scaled down. Major new content releases are not anticipated.
Representatives from Pixiland expressed their gratitude to the community in a statement, saying: “Throughout this journey, weโve done everything we could to ship features, improve the game, and keep Pixiland alive as a small independent team.” They remain hopeful that the game will still provide an enjoyable experience for its user base, despite these significant operational changes.
