Pixels Unveils Chapter 3: ‘Bountyfall’ with Unions
Pixels, a popular game based on the Ronin network, has launched ‘Bountyfall’, the latest installment in its series. This update brings an innovative feature named ‘Unions’, designed to foster a mix of competition and collaboration among players.
Unions: A New Way to Engage
‘Unions’ introduces a fresh, accessible way for gamers to participate without the common barriers often associated with traditional gaming guilds. Players can join one of three unions: the Wildgroves, the Seedwrights, or the Reapers, each associated with a unique resource type known as yieldstone available in five tiers: Verdant, Flint, or Hollow.
Competitive Play and Rewards
The core of ‘Bountyfall’ revolves around gathering yieldstones either through completing tasks or crafting on NFT lands. Players contribute these stones to their union’s hearth to either bolster it or strategically hinder rival unions by placing stones in their hearths. The race to reach 100% hearth health first triggers the release of up to 50,000 PIXEL tokens, estimated at $7,500, distributed according to union ranking and member participation. Additionally, players can switch unions, though this decision comes with a 50 PIXEL token cost and includes a cooldown period, adding a strategic element to gameplay.
Insight From the CEO
Luke Barwikowski, CEO of Pixels, candidly spoke about the company’s strategic shifts and future outlook. “In the early days of Pixels, our strength was pure brute force. We shipped fast, without overthinking polish, and it worked. As our user base grew, we slowed down to perfect systems first, and honestly, that was a mistake. About six months ago, we decided to return to our roots with rapid updates, experimentation, and fast iteration. It’s been far more effective, and we’re seeing real momentum again,” he explained.
Further delving into Chapter 3’s direction, he added, “For this next stage, our focus is on building strong systems and sustainable economics first. That’s where the real experimentation needs to happen, and it’s exactly what we’re doing with Chapter 3. Over the past year, we’ve been refining everything around one core metric, return on reward spend, and for the first time, we’re seeing it above one. Our goal with Chapter 3 is to keep Pixels sustainable over time.”
With these updates, Pixels aims to overhaul its engagement mechanisms and solidify its place in the competitive browser-based gaming market.
