Phantom Blade Zero looks set to become a global success

Phantom Blade Zero, the upcoming action RPG from Chinese studio S-Game, appears to be getting more and more hyped anticipation worldwide. While the game has already been wishlisted more than a million times, the developers have indicated on Weibo that more than 50% of the game’s wishlists come from outside China. They specifically mention Europe, the United States, Brazil, Turkey, and the Middle East, suggesting strong international interest well beyond the Chinese market.

Unlike Black Myth: Wukong, which sold 20 million copies mainly in China, Phantom Blade Zero could become a global success if it combines this widespread enthusiasm with strong sales.

They also provide some clarification on the game’s genre, which continues to be a topic of discussion:

“In reality, even we ourselves find it difficult to define the precise genre of Phantom Blade Zero. It may be a 3D open-world game, but it’s not a Souls-like, with exhilarating action and strong visual impact, but it’s not a hack’n’slash action game either…”

The game will be released on PS5 and PC on September 9, 2026, and the team has explained that there will be no new trailer this spring in order to focus on developing and polishing the game in the last months before launch.
