Just ahead of Halloween, you can now grab the excellent Fear The Spotlight for free which would normally set you back ÂŁ15.99 – not a bad saving.
Developed by Cozy Game Pals and published by Blumhouse Games, Fear The Spotlight was originally launched in October of 2024.
Itâs an âatmospheric third-person horror adventureâ that revolves around friends Vivian and Amy who sneak into their school after hours, experiencing a sĂ©ance gone wrong in the process.
Thereâs a wonderful nostalgic feeling to the game, even though it only launched last year.
Thatâs because Fear The Spotlight is inspired by the horror greats of the PS1 generation and thus opts for a slight polygonal art style.
In our review here at GAMINGbible, we awarded the game a score of eight, writing, âFear the Spotlight is perhaps the first game to scare me in a while and while it is a little trapped in the past, it does a wonderful job of unsettling the player enough that youâll be thinking about it for some time to come.â
On Metacritic, it boasts a Metascore of 83 and a User Score of 7.9.
The gameplay revolves largely around puzzle-solving and stealth encounters.
Youâll need to keep a low profile as you solve âtactile puzzlesâ within Sunnyside High in what developers describe as an âode to classic 90s teen horrorâ.
You may have recognised the name Blumhouse that I mentioned earlier, a company best known for producing first-rate horror films.
Well, fun fact, Fear The Spotlight was the first game to be published by the then newly formed Blumhouse Games.
