PC Game is a Modern Classic, 9/10 Rated and Free to Play

If you’re a fan of horror games, particularly of the old-school-inspired variety, then you don’t want to skip this PC game.

I love survival horror; it’s without question my go-to video game genre. Whether it’s Resident Evil or Silent Hill, and everything else in between, I can never get enough of its gruesome goodness.

While it’s great to play the vast survival horror games of this generation, sometimes, it’s nice to take a trip down memory lane, especially when we’re taking the retro 90s and 2000s.

Back in the good old days, I loved having to manage my inventory, be wary of the resources that I use and the fixed camera angles that hid whatever horrific creatures might be waiting for me around the next corner.

One game that takes me back to the good old days, but takes advantage of modern graphics and performance, is an indie horror game that was released in 2021, namely, Tormented Souls.

Co-developed by Dual Effect and Abstract Digital Works, and published by PQube, Tormented Souls is not for the faint of heart, and its challenging puzzles and enemies will test your resolve. That’s what survival horror games are all about, in my opinion.

Tormented Souls Is Not to Be Missed!

“While investigating the disappearance of twin girls at Winterlake, something terrible happens to Caroline Walker. Waking in the dead of night, naked and hooked up to some kind of outdated medical equipment in a bathtub, Caroline must fight for her life as she explores the halls of the abandoned mansion,” reads the synopsis of the game.

“Classic survival horror is back! Inspired by the original Resident Evil and Alone in the Dark series, Tormented Souls modernises with a fresh twist on the fixed perspective adventure.”

If you’ve not had the chance to play Tormented Souls yet, if you subscribe to Amazon Prime, you can play the game for free via Luna, Amazon’s gaming streaming platform.

Much like Xbox Game Pass, you shouldn’t have to worry all that much whether your PC can handle it, because this is more about having a stable internet connection. So, using your Amazon Prime account, log in to Luna and away you go.

Playing Tormented Souls is perfectly timed, because towards the end of last year, its long-awaited sequel was released. So you can play the original and jump straight into Tormented Souls 2.

On the PC platform Steam, Tormented Souls has a roughly 89 percent user review score with a rating of “Very Positive”.

On the aggregate website Metacritic, it’s scored 72 from critics and 8.0 from users.

Tormented Souls is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Its sequel is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
