But many of those who have actually played Palworld will vouch for its originality: it’s not just “Pokemon with guns” but rather a vast survival game with multifaceted base-building and resource management systems. I’m not saying that it’s some miracle of game design or even that it’s totally original, but it really has very little to do with Pokemon when you actually break down its gameplay loop. As the Palworld brand expands through projects like Palworld: Palfarm, it’s becoming even clearer that Pocketpair isn’t trying to jack Nintendo’s style. Love it or hate it, Palworld is doing its own thing, and Pocketpair is far more risk-tolerant than many others give it credit for.
