Developer Shift Up and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment released one of the best PS5 exclusives last year in the form of Stellar Blade. However, for its sequel, the developer is reportedly thinking of expanding the number of platforms the upcoming action game will be available on.

Stellar Blade 2 might not be a PlayStation exclusive

In the latest earnings results (H/T Tech4Gamers), Shift Up was asked about the company’s expectations for Stellar Blade in Q4 2025 and 2026. Although specifics aren’t detailed, the developer is considering bringing the franchise to other platforms.

“We expect the sustained popularity of the Stellar Blade IP to continue,” said the report. To further enhance brand recognition and boost sales, we plan to carry out various promotional activities and are considering additional platform expansions to make Stellar Blade accessible to more players. Through upcoming seasonal and holiday promotions across both PC and PS5 platforms, we look forward to engaging an even broader global audience.”

Since Stellar Blade is already available on PC, it seems reasonable that the additional platforms could be Xbox Series X|S or the Nintendo Switch 2. Considering PlayStation has not shied away from bringing some of its franchises to other platforms, like Lego Horizon Adventures and Helldivers 2, it would not be surprising if Shift Up brought both the 2024 release and its sequel to other platforms.

Stellar Blade isn’t the only SIE published game looking to expand its horizons. Sony and NCSoft recently revealed the long-rumored Horizon Steel Frontiers, an MMORPG based on Guerrilla Games’ popular franchise. However, the companies have not yet confirmed a PlayStation release. When it does launch, it will be available for PC and mobile.

Stellar Blade is available for the PS5 right now on the PS Store for $69.99, and is PS5 Pro Enhanced. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can play a 2-hour full game trial of the game as part of their subscription to the service.
