Octopath Traveler 0’s Town-Building, Combat, Ultimates, and More Detailed in New Overview Trailer

Octopath Traveler 0, Square Enix’s next entry in the HD-2D role-playing series, has received a new overview trailer, quickly detailing everything you should know. Unlike previous entries, players create their own protagonist (complete with a Job), who embarks on a quest for vengeance after the destruction of Wishvale.

Exploration and gathering allies are key, but there’s also town-building. You can construct different facilities, invite people to join the town, farm, and much more. Of course, the combat system retains the Break and Boost functions of its predecessors, with characters spending Boost gauge to improve their attacks.

Battles now involve eight characters, each with unique Ultimates that can turn the tide. Action Skills are also available to set beforehand, adding more variety to one’s kit.

Octopath Traveler 0 launches on December 4th for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. It promises a main story that spans 100 hours, and despite being based on the mobile game, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Content, a healthy chunk of the content is brand new.
