Nintendo’s U.S. patent strategy faces a major setback. The head of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has taken the rare step of ordering a reexamination of Nintendo’s controversial patent that covers the mechanic of summoning a helper character to fight in manual or automatic modes.
