Nintendo has decided to cut Switch 2 production by 30% due to weak sales in the U.S.

The Switch 2 has not been as successful as Nintendo had hoped. Bloomberg reports that the Japanese manufacturer has decided to drastically reduce its console production this quarter.

As a result, production has been cut by 30% to 4 million units instead of the 6 million initially planned. This is due to weaker demand during the holiday season in the United States. This production pace is expected to continue through April. To date, 17.37 million units of the console have been sold worldwide.

In its article, Bloomberg also reveals that, despite a record-breaking launch last June, the Switch 2 ultimately failed to meet Nintendo’s very high expectations. The success of Pokémon Pokopia also did not prompt the Japanese company to ramp up production.

Finally, regarding Europe, the Switch 2 with a replaceable battery is expected to be released during the next fiscal year.
