This week, AdHoc Studios released the excellent Dispatch on Nintendo consoles. Unfortunately, in order to be approved for release on Switch and Switch 2, the game had to be censored due to scenes of nudity and suggestive sounds.
In response to the controversy, Nintendo issued a statement.
“Nintendo requires all games on its platforms to receive ratings from independent organizations and to meet our established content and platform guidelines. While we inform partners when their titles donβt meet our guidelines, Nintendo does not make changes to partner content. We also do not discuss specific content or the criteria used in making these determinations.”
This deliberately abstract statement does not allow us to know the specific reasons for this censorship.
