Next PS5 First Party Game's Release Date Leaked by Xbox

In an unusual turn of events, the release date of an upcoming PS5 first-party game has been leaked by rival Xbox. According to an ad that has now been scrubbed and is being hit with copyright strikes, Bungie‘s multiplatform shooter Marathon will release in the first week of March.

PS5 first party game Marathon will release on March 5, 2026, per leak

Sony previously announced a release window of March 2025. According to the Microsoft Store, it’ll be available on the 5th, to be precise. Since videos are being taken down with copyright strikes, we won’t embed the trailer here. However, you can see stills in this tweet and its replies.

Bungie’s upcoming first-person multiplayer extraction shooter brings back its 90s classic series to modern platforms. However, its road to release hasn’t been smooth. The game was plagued with various controversies, including accusations of plagiarism. Bungie quietly settled the matter with the artist involved.

Following silence and a delay, Marathon reappeared with a March 2026 release window, and it looks like there will be no further delays.

Although Marathon is a cross-platform title being published by Bungie, the developer has since been incorporated into PlayStation Studios by Sony, losing much of its independence, partly owing to a financial disaster.
