Since the PlayStation 5 was released in November 2025, a plethora of special edition PS5 DualSense controllers have been released. This ranges from basic colorways to special themed controllers based on some of the console’s most acclaimed video games. The latest is more in the realm of the former, but it is still pretty striking.
Sony recently revealed the Icon Blue Special Edition PS5 controller, a gamepad that is “inspired by PlayStation’s storied heritage.” As expected, it’s blue. However, rather than having accents of black or white like some of the more traditional PS5 controller colorways, it is just made up of different shades of blue, hence why it’s pretty striking. It also features glossy PlayStation shapes on the touch pad, giving it a bit more flair.
How and where to purchase new icon blue PS5 DualSense controller
The Icon Blue Special Edition PS5 controller will be available to purchase on October 20 in the U.S. and Canada, and October 28 in Mexico and Chile. Anyone interested in getting the special colorway will have to either visit a Walmart or find it on the retailer’s official online store. It will cost $84.99 USD / $109.00 CAD / $1,899 MXN / $93,490 CLP.
Sony’s Color, Material and Finish design team member Leo Cardoso spoke about the PS5 controller’s inspiration:
“From the moment the console powers on and the DualSense controller lights up, that signature blue glow signals the start of something special. It’s the spark that draws you into new worlds and immersive gameplay. Inspired by PlayStation’s iconic shades of blue, this design captures the feeling of anticipation and wonder every time you pick up the controller. As a nod to our origins, we added Katakana characters on the back that spell our name the Japanese way: Pureisutēshon.“
In the same announcement, Sony revealed several other products that will be available at Walmart in the U.S. This includes an Astro Bot Lunch Box, Twisted Metal Meltz Figures, PlayStation Jersey, Monogram Backpack Clips, and The Last of Us Ellie Mini Backpack.
