New Neon Genesis Evangelion Series In Development With Nier Automata’s Yoko Taro At The Helm

Landmark anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion recently wrapped up its 30th anniversary celebrations with the major announcement that a new series is in production, with Nier: Automata’s Yoko Taro writing it. Additionally, Toru Yatabe (Chainsaw Man) and Kazuya Tsurumaki (Rebuild of Evangelion) will direct this new project, and it’ll feature music by Nier: Automata composer Keiichi Okabe.

Further details on the project remain locked up tighter than Lilith’s remains at NERV headquarters, as Evangelion’s official website only announced the talent involved in this next chapter for the franchise. “I thank you for praising NieR: Automata’s story, but actually it’s pretty much just a retelling of Evangelion, so there’s not much originality to it,” Taro said to IGN at the time. “I don’t really watch recent movies, so I’m mostly inspired by memories of works I saw in the past.”
